  • The Benefits of Legs up the Wall Yoga Pose: Why I am doing this everyday.

    It is a difficult thing for me to sit still for 20 minutes but podcasts and audio books help. The benefits of putting your legs up the wall for 15 minutes to 20 minutes every day are a win. "Yes I exercised today and I feel great" This Pose - Legs Up the Wall is an inversion pose. Lie on the floor next to a wall and place your legs together vertically against the wall. This simple pose is relaxing and helps restore as it inverts the repetitive actions that occur within our bodies as we sit and stand. It provides stress and anxiety relief as well as reducing menstrual symptoms and back pain. It is also good for leg swelling or varicose veins. The pose is simple and can be performed for extended periods of time. Fulfilling Benefits Relieves stress and anxiety Reduces menstrual Symptoms Reduces back pain Great for swelling or varicose veins in the legs Ease headaches Ease insomnia Improves circulation Directs lymph and other fluids from legs, reducing swelling. Activates relaxation response Deactivates stress response Relieves tired leg muscles How to best do the pose Get seated on the floor facing a wall. Lay on your side and roll onto your back, stretching your legs up the wall. Feet can be hip-distance apart or whatever feels most comfortable. Scooch your tailbone toward the wall. It doesn’t need to touch the wall. Let your body get comfortable with arms at your side, with palms turned up. Relax your arms and shoulders and relax your legs against the wall. Melt your back into the floor Settle into the pose and breathe for minimum of 10 minutes. To come out of the pose, bend your knees and roll to your side. Remain here for a few breaths to gain your Barings and slowly push yourself back up to the seated position. I have put 15-20 minutes into my daily schedule! Recovering from a broken ankle and all the sit on my butt time I was handed this winter; I find this pose gives me a great opportunity to gain circulation, and promotes any swelling to subside.     Boost your metabolism! You have heard it, you want it, now it is time to put it out there and get things moving. Get moving, eat healthily and watch the results appear. I wish it was that easy but the one ingredient is you and your willingness to put the steps in motion. 8 amazing 👍 tips to help increase your Metabolism Do 20-60 minutes of Cardiovascular exercises (power walking, jogging, cycling, aerobics class, kickboxing, boxing, swimming, etc.) at least 4-6 times per week. This will help you boost your metabolism and burn calories. Try to do your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to boost your metabolism. Hydrate with approximately 5 liters of water per day. Drink at least 1-2 liters of water after cardio. Do Muscular Strength/Endurance work (Yoga, sculpting, weight training) at least 2-3 times per week to boost metabolism, sculpt and define muscles. Do Flexibility work (Yoga, pilates, stretching) at least 2 times per week to lengthen and define muscles and increase the range of motion in your joints. Limit carbohydrates (starches, rice, pasta, bread, etc.) from your evening meal. Eat 6-7 small meals per day to increase metabolism Follow the guidelines of a healthy nutrition plan.
